Excellent essay !

I have spent a very enjoyable Xmas reading this essay and others (Essence of Shotokan, Mizu no Kokoro and Warrior Zen Death Lessons) and decided to review this one first.

The author explores the concepts of Shotokan karate rather than the techniques and compares this to Bruce Lee and his Jeet Kune Do. Bruce Lee was more about the concepts of fighting than the technique and the author concludes that karate is the same. This is very thought provoking stuff and adds a new dimension to your martial art. The author also claims to have written this when he was 24 and if this is true it shows a great depth of understanding.

Interesting for all karate people and fans of Bruce Lee and his fighting style.

I want to read more from this author and hopes he will publish more in the future.
