In this tale, Cornelius the crocodile is the nail, who literally stands up, from the time he is hatched. His uniqueness and openness leads him to knowledge and abilities outside the realm of the average crocodile perspective. Cornelius does not stop at just being different nor does he let his uniqueness stop him. He goes out into the world, but also returns to share his new-found knowledge with his fellows.
