Started Slow, Ended Strong

Just read this for my book club. It started out a bit shaky: lots of teenaged snarky-ness. I was not looking forward to 300+ pages of that. But, the author started to win me over when the characters (with cancer) used proper medical terminology for their diseases and apparatus. That showed the book was going to be more than a dopy YA cookie-cutter.

There are some things in the book that I didn’t like, but I’d have to discuss plot points to do so. Suffice to say that I have some issues. But, by the end, I really cared about these characters, and that’s what it’s all about, no?
