a beginner mandolin player gets his fingertips dirty

I have literally just picked up a mandolin, but have been playing guitar for a long timethough pretty poorly. I have to say that I love this book and the music. I am constantly trying to get the next tune down so I can move onto to the following one. It’s certainly not easy and there isn’t much in the way of theory. You aren’t baby walked through it either. You are just told to get on with it and learn the next tune. This style suits me and I think it is also true to the way traditional music has been passed down to us. I don’t imagine people playing these tunes to have learnt a whole lot of theory on their respective musical journeys. If you like getting down to learning songs quickly then this book will suit you. If you like to learn bit-by-bit, in a more softly-softy approach then you may be overwhelmed.
However, I would actually like to become a more rounded mandolin player and learn more about the mandolin in general, so I have purchased another book to help me with
