In a class above

One of the best (if not the best) books on marriage I’ve read. As the title suggests, it’s not a handbook for dealing with the specific challenges in marriage, rather it eloquently and persuasively convinces the reader of the importance and beauty of marriage.

Some of my favorite points were about:
- Marriage as a living illustration of the gospel
- Marriage as a vehicle for growth and the importance of both truth and love
- Checking motives for relationships and marriage (ego, personal fulfillment, economics, etc.)
- Gender roles
- How the New Testament view on singleness was revolutionary at the time and how it validates Christianity
- How sexuality involves the entire being, and is part of the covenant of marriage
