Synkronized とは
With songs that fall exactly in between early Michael Jackson and Taste of Honey, Jamiroquai"s Synkronized is a funk-disco inferno that is distinguished from its 1970s counterparts only by its 1990s production. It contains all the same ingredients: wah-wah guitar, electric piano, soft-sided strings oozing out melody, pot-bellied bass and a blasted-out horn section that evokes images of three guys stepping in sync while their sequined flairs swipe over white patent-leather loafers. While the funk is steamy enough to flatten the tallest "fro, Jay Kay"s impeccable ability to emulate Stevie Wonder"s vocals brings on the cool side. But the album isn"t all about a time warp. Just when you think Jamiroquai aren"t going to step a toe beyond 1978, "Supersonic", the seventh track, throws down an acid-house riff that works in didgeridoo and a synthed-out cowbell. "Where Do We Go from Here" rocks with a leapfrogging blues piano and tangy bongos. The album"s grand finale, "King for a Day", is a regal rock-operatic excursion embellished with fully orchestrated piano and strings. 1999年、JAMIROQUAIの4thアルバムです。
JAMIROQUAIは、本当に、色々な音楽を融合させ、
オリジナリティーをどんどん確立していった、かなり賢い、実力のあるバンドです。
が、今回は、「理屈抜きで楽しめる！」「JAMIROQUAI・ディスコ！」なアルバムになっています。
ノリノリで、勝手に体が動き出す、フィジカル盤です。
いつも通りに、Stevie Wonder, Curtis Mayfield etcの70’s R&Bを軸に、
今回は、EW & F, CHIC etcのディスコ風なFunkを、強烈に出しています。
「アッパーなグルーヴ」 & 「優雅なストリングス」が気持ちいい、先行シングル、tr. 1
「16ビートのFunky カッティング」 & 「もろ70’s Soul風なサビ」がかっこいい、tr. 4, 9
ディジリドゥの摩訶不思議メロを、アッパーなファンクビートでグイグイ聴いて、旅へ出れる、tr. 7 （トリップ名曲？・笑）
ミステリアスなピアノが印象的な、ラストチューン、tr. 10 (JAMIRO版・"Pastime Paradise"？）
。。。などなど、素晴らしい曲が、たくさんあります。
メロディーが、とても聴きやすいアルバムです。
また、Funkビートでありながら、メロディーは、実に多彩なので、一気に聴けます。
「JAMIROQUAIファン」「JAMIROQUAI初心者」に、オススメです。
また、「70’s ファンク」「70’s ディスコ」が好きな人にも、オススメします。
