It was a novel that was much shorter than I expected. When I read it undigested 2 to 30 years ago, I thought it was a huge work, but now I have the impression that it is a very clean style novel.
I think the American dream was the idea that anyone has the chance to build wealth and fame from nakedness, and that the American land makes it possible. There seems to be an image that the United States is a country that aims for freedom and equality, but no matter how much Gatsby made money and built wealth, the “world” that was not able to enter was distinct, and a distinct class It is a society. Being not born in a prestigious house means not connecting to which university, but a personal connection connected by belonging to a very closed and privileged club that only the rich son of fraternity can enter It means that you do n’t get the benefits of socializing. It was the difference in class that broke down the partner who fell in love with Gatsby, and that partner married a partner
