That illustration of Little Sal and her mother canning blueberries in their old-fashioned kitchen always puts me in mind for blueberry pie! From that scrumptious scene, to the peaceful panorama of the blueberry patch, McClosky`s sweet tale and accompanying drawings (all in blue ink) of a little girl and a little bear who mix themselves up while picking and eating blueberries one fine day, is a delicious reminder of the simple pleasures in life.
