don’t take it too personally

This is an essay written by Kyoko Mori. She left Japan to the States at the age of 20. She never came back.

In this book, she talks about her life and family in Japan, and her new life in Green bay. She sees Japan from a critical viewpoint. What she says in this book, may not be very enjoyable for Japanese to read. But, I could sympathize with most of the part. (Especially the part where she talked about how Japanese people keep silence to avoid trouble.)

She is trying to see Japan from a perspective way, but I could not ignore the fact that her ideas are sometimes associated with her personal memories, ie) unpleasant events she experienced in Japan.

So, I guess we should read this without taking things too personally.

It’s sometimes good to see ourselves critically.
