This review is for the audio book. I write these comments with trepidation for fear of a Navy Seal kicking in my door at 4:AM and subjecting me to a brutal workout regime in the local river, during winter for 7 days straight, without sleep or food and made to drink the icy dew off a dead dogs leg

But seriously, what a book! I’m a Canadian by birth and we are a rather tepid, passive lot so I’ll forewarn some readers that this is a very American story; it is full of patriotism, bravado, mild xenophobia and a lot of ass kicking. This is also a true story and a very harrowing one. Into the first hour of the narration I found it tough to relate to the drive, training and mental conditioning needed to become a Seal, but then I became deeply hooked.

Marcus strikes me as a genuine fellow and he basically grew up eating nails, wrestling alligators and training his body to do battle with the Terminator. The camaraderie with his Navy Seal group is touching at times and
