This workbook is ideal for teaching the alphabet because it not only allows space for students to practice writing the letters themselves, but also teaches them how to use them in context of words and sentences. Each section has a fun sentence which uses the featured letter and is supported by a small illustration to explain its meaning. These sentences can be read in class to help with pronunciation and reading comprehension. I often try to make it into a kind of tongue twister game where students have to read the sentences five times fast. This way, reading is introduced to them as a fun activity.
At the bottom of each section, three pictures and words are given starting with the featured letter. Cleverly, a fourth space is left blank for students to write their own picture and word beginning with the featured letter.
