Little Dorrit (BBC Radio Classics) の感想

This is one of my favourite Dickens novels. One of his heavyweight tomes, it was published in monthly parts meaning he had the elbow room to expand situations and descriptions. It is full of fine writing and vividly presented episodes, and the usual Dickens features are present and correct : comedy, pathos, social comment , striking charactersand a superb villain. The Wordsworth edition is excellent value for money, with a good introduction and notes to elucidate contemporary references or now outdated language. Little Dorrit was written 150 years ago, and few greater English language novels have been written since.
